Helene’s Colouring Approach

Helene’s Colouring Approach

Artist’s statement

L

From the time a butterfly emerges from its cocoon, it is a very frail insect with main means of defense being camouflage.

To learn to colour butterflies in different environments, there are steps.

First, you colour the background with colours of your choice, keeping aside the pencils you use.

Then, at the very end, you use the pencils you set aside to colour the butterflies.

In this collection, there are butterflies alone, some fairy butterflies, butterflies contrasting the environment and finally, camouflaged butterflies.
